Mental Health Awareness Podcast
Context
The workshop brought together young people from Málaga to explore mental health awareness through podcasting, with the topic and focus shaped directly by the participants themselves, reflecting a need they identified as a group.

Needs

The need that emerged was for more spaces where young people could speak openly about personal mental health issues, and for accessible tools to help them create and share content on the topic themselves.

Partners

EuroMuévete

Participants

10 young people and 4 facilitators (2 from Rinova, 2 from EuroMuévete)

Phases

1
Phase 1
Welcome and introductions from EuroMuévete and Rinova, followed by a "This or That" icebreaker to help participants get to know each other.
2
Phase 2
A practical introduction to podcast creation, covering developing an idea, structuring an episode, scripting, recording and editing, along with tips on communication and storytelling.
3
Phase 3
"Find your topic & build your team": an interactive activity in which participants identified the mental health and wellbeing topics they were most interested in and formed working groups around shared interests. The "Post your goals" method (developed by Alexandra Karagianni, Sweden) was used at this stage, with participants writing their goals for the session on post-it notes, wearing them, and grouping with others who shared the same goals (helping form teams around genuine common ground, including participants who might not otherwise have collaborated).
4
Phase 4
Hands-on group work to design, script, record and edit a podcast episode, with each team rotating through the recording studio.
5
Phase 5
A closing and feedback session where participants reflected on the experience and learned about next steps, including how the podcasts will be shared.
6
Phase 6
7
Phase 7
8
Phase 8

Results

First episodes recorded and edited for 3 separate podcast groups, now being finalised for publication online and on social media.

Thanks to the method used groups were formed around shared personal goals rather than existing social ties, connecting participants from across the community who might not otherwise have worked together.

Participants gained ongoing access to the tools and studio set-up needed to continue producing further episodes.

10 active participants + 4 facilitators (total 14)

Methodology / Tools

The CAP tested the "Post your goals" method from the P2CC toolkit during the team-formation stage, alongside other facilitation tools used across the session.
